Sam Rayburn Tollway Fourth Lane

Sam Rayburn Tollway Expansion Project

Improvements to Sam Rayburn Tollway (SRT) included constructing an additional lane in each direction along the entire 26-miles of the SRT, from west of Denton Tap Road to U.S. 75. Ramp improvements have also been made between the Dallas North Tollway (DNT) and Preston Road to separate traffic for customers exiting from northbound SRT to Preston Road and customers entering SRT from the DNT direct-connectors. Auxiliary lanes have been added in various locations along the corridor to improve ramp merging areas.

As part of the North Texas Tollway Authority’s (NTTA) public involvement and environmental analysis processes, two community meetings were held in February 2017. In July 2017, a Public Hearing was held to present the project and results of the environmental analysis, and to receive formal comments from those in attendance. Comments were accepted until August 9, 2017.

Construction began January 2, 2019. The fourth lanes between west of Denton Tap Road in Coppell and US 75 in McKinney are now open to traffic.
