Business Diversity Training Class

PLANO, Texas, Nov. 17, 2022 – The sixth “Relationships and Opportunities Advancing Diversity” (ROAD) class has graduated the North Texas Tollway Authority’s (NTTA) unique program, which helps create inclusion and level the business playing field for area disadvantaged, minority and woman-owned business (DMWBE) enterprises.

NTTA created the ROAD Program in 2008 using a mentor-protégé model to help DMWBEs grow the skills needed to compete for large-scale projects with NTTA and other transportation agencies.

This 2020-2022 ROAD program class was comprised of 15 companies who formed teams to complete the program’s curriculum over the last two years.

“We celebrate the success of the ROAD program but realize the need for it is greater than ever,” said NTTA Chairman Marcus Knight. "We are committed to growing diverse firms' capabilities so they are able to successfully compete for projects, which will ensure a stronger North Texas.”

This partnering relationship provides DMWBEs access to greater resources, products, and services, as well as training and support for expanding business operations, technical capabilities and receiving guidance to strengthen their businesses.

To date, 63 teams, including this graduating class, have successfully completed the program.

About NTTA
The North Texas Tollway Authority, a political subdivision of the state of Texas, is authorized to acquire, construct, maintain, repair and operate turnpike projects across the North Texas region. The nine-member board is comprised of Chairman Marcus Knight; Vice Chairman Mojy Haddad; and Directors Tim Carter, Lynn Gravley, Pete Kamp, Scott Levine, John Mahalik, George “Tex” Quesada and Jane Willard.

NTTA is composed of member counties Dallas, Denton, Collin and Tarrant. It also serves Ellis and Johnson counties. NTTA owns and operates the Dallas North Tollway, President George Bush Turnpike, Sam Rayburn Tollway, Addison Airport Toll Tunnel, Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge, Mountain Creek Lake Bridge, Chisholm Trail Parkway, and 360 Tollway. It raises capital for construction projects through the issuance of turnpike revenue bonds. NTTA toll projects are not a part of the state highway system and receive no direct tax funding. Tolls are collected to repay debt and to operate and maintain the roadways.
