From the bustling city center of downtown Dallas, to the vibrant suburban communities in Collin County, to entertainment and sports venues in the mid-cities and the localities in between, North Texas offers an exciting itinerary of destinations and opportunities. And with NTTA toll roads, you can get around the region quicker, easier and happier. With cashless tolling, the NTTA offers two ways to pay, and a TollTag continues to be the most cost-efficient and convenient way to travel our roads.

How Your TollTag Works

As a TollTag customer, you’ll pay your tolls electronically from a prepaid account through the use of the convenient TollTag transponder sticker mounted on your vehicle’s windshield. Each time you pass through a toll lane, the toll is deducted directly from your prepaid account.

Tolls are automatically debited from your account (which is backed by cash, your credit or debit card). When the account reaches $10, you will receive a notice (cash-backed accounts) or $40 will be deducted from your credit or debit card account. Customers can monitor their account usage and add funds to their accounts at any time via the Tollmate mobile app or through the online account management site.

NTTA classifies TollTag accounts that have had no activity for more than three years as ‎inactive, and funds in those accounts are presumed abandoned under TEXAS PROPERTY CODE §72.101‎. ‎ Under TEXAS PROPERTY CODE §74.301, NTTA is required to transfer to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts on or before July 1, 2019, funds that as of March 1, 2019, are presumed abandoned.

NTTA will close an inactive account and transfer presumed abandoned funds in the account to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts if the holder of the inactive account fails to contact NTTA by May 1, 2019, to assert a claim to the funds or exercise an act of ownership of the funds. The holder of an inactive account may request a refund of the funds in the account or the transfer of those funds to an active TollTag account.

Inactive-account holders have until May 1, 2019, to contact NTTA. After that date, TollTag accounts that remain inactive will be closed, and all account funds presumed abandoned under Texas law will be transferred to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, as required by law. An owner of funds transferred to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts can reclaim the funds by contacting the comptroller’s office.
