Toll Collection & Rates

Ever wonder what happens to your tolls once they’re collected? NTTA toll collection allows for efficient, high-quality roadway development, construction, and maintenance.

Tolls pay for better roads and widespread access to destinations across North Texas. Payment for driving on NTTA roads are used to (1) repay bonds sold to finance projects, (2) operate and maintain existing roads and (3) fund expansions and improvements to accommodate continuing traffic growth, like the expansions of Dallas North Tollway and President George Bush Turnpike.

  • Gas taxes, vehicle registration fees and other taxes do not support NTTA tollways.
  • Tolls maintain a road after the bonds are paid off, similar to ongoing maintenance of a vehicle.
  • NTTA receives no state or federal funding to maintain or operate toll roads.
  • Your tolls stay in North Texas and are reinvested in the region.

See below for a breakdown of NTTA's 2014 expenses. (Numbers are unaudited.)
