PGBT Widening

 
President George Bush Turnpike Widening Project Description

The PGBT Widening Project will include widening of the PGBT from Interstate 30 to State Highway 183 and from north of Belt Line Road (Irving) to SH 78 to four lanes in each direction. PGBT between I-30 and I-20 in Grand Prairie also will be widened to three lanes in each direction. All widening will take place within the center median.

The project will be built in phases, and construction is underway in some sections.

  • PGBT between U.S. 75 and the Dallas North Tollway and westbound between Renner Road and U.S. 75: Construction began in May 2015 and the fourth lane opened to traffic in November 2016.
  • SH 78 to U.S. 75: Construction began in June 2017; anticipated completion, weather permitting: late 2018
  • DNT to I-35E: Construction began in July 2017; anticipated completion: weather permitting: late 2019
  • I-35E to north of Belt Line Road (Irving): Currently in design phase
  • SH 183 to I-20: Currently in planning phase

Notice Affording an Opportunity for Public Hearing

The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) is proposing to widen the main lanes of the President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT) between State Highway 183 in Irving and Interstate Highway 20 in Grand Prairie. Click here for a project location map.

A Notice Affording an Opportunity for Public Hearing (NAOPH) has been issued and is available here. A translation of the NAOPH in Spanish is available here.

Requests for a public hearing must be submitted in writing and received or postmarked on or before August 30, 2018, to the NTTA Offices, P.O. Box 260729, Plano, Texas 75026, Attn: Mr. Sam Lopez.

Documentation showing the project location, preliminary design and environmental studies are available for viewing upon request at the NTTA Offices located at 5900 W. Plano Parkway, Suite 100, Plano, Texas 75093. Please contact Mr. Lopez at (972) 628-3134 to view project the documentation.

 
Keeping You Informed is Important to Us

Community Meetings
Keeping the public informed about the PGBT Widening Project is a top priority for NTTA during construction. Informational meetings for members of the public will be scheduled and announced, as needed.

Invite us to your next event!
The NTTA team can meet with your civic club, homeowners association, tenants or company staff members. We can offer a brief presentation, answer your questions and provide handouts that you may share with others. Contact us at SpeakersBureau@NTTA.org.

 

Business Information Group (B.I.G.) Meetings

NTTA’s Business Information Group (B.I.G.) meetings are designed to keep business owners and managers current with progress on the PGBT Widening Project and Dallas North Tollway Improvement Projects. NTTA personnel and consultants, and sometimes representatives from our partners, provide brief presentations about the projects during the sessions. 

The DNT/PGBT Interchange Area met in August 2017 and this project update report was shown. A date for the next B.I.G. meeting has not been set. NTTA personnel will issue notices here and they will also be sent electronically to B.I.G. members prior to the meetings.
