Athena Cole
Director of Procurement
In her role as Director of Procurement, Athena oversees all procurement operations, contracts and vendor programs, including the formal bidding process and developing specifications and proposal information.
Athena describes herself as “passionate about procurement” and hopes to make this division of the Finance Department a well-oiled machine. She has served as NTTA’s first-ever Contract Manager since she joined the Authority in 2005. Over the last four years, she has developed and implemented the Authority’s contract program, and just last year she created a detailed procedure manual to ensure her team could effectively process NTTA’s contracts. This experience will provide a strong foundation for her plans to create uniform procedures for the Authority’s procurement processes.
With more than 13 years in procurement and accounting, Athena’s background fits well with her new position. Prior to joining NTTA, Athena spent eight years with Collin County as the purchasing and contract administrator, where she saw the procurement process from beginning to end, from bid solicitation through contract close-out. She also spent four years in procurement management in the private sector, and she is a Certified Professional Public Buyer.
