More about the 121 Tollway:
When all construction is complete (expected in January 2012), the 121 Tollway will feature six main lanes and all-electronic toll collection gantries. There will be no cash option available. Motorists will be able to use the toll road with their NTTA-issued TollTag, a TexasTollway TxTag, or an EZ TAG from the Harris County Toll Road Authority. Customers who use the toll road without a transponder will receive a bill from the NTTA. Cameras at various entrances and exits along the toll road will take a picture of your license plate and the vehicle owner will be mailed an invoice.

The 121 Tollway project is divided into five segments all in various stages of development from planning and design to open to traffic.

Segment 1, from Denton Tap Road to Old Denton Road opened to traffic in July 2006.

Segment 2, which runs from Old Denton Road to Hillcrest Road, officially opened to traffic on Sept. 1., 2008, when NTTA took full responsibility for Segments 1 and 2 as well as the operation, maintenance and construction of the remaining segments of the 121 Tollway.

NTTA contractors began work on Segment 3 of the 121 Tollway in March 2008. Segment 3 stretches from Hillcrest Road to Hardin Boulevard near U.S. 75. The anticipated completion date for Segment 3 is January 2010.

Segment 4 consists of the area that encompasses the 121 Tollway/ U.S. 75 interchange, from Lake Forest Drive to just east of U.S. 75. Opening for this portion of the roadway is anticipated in January 2011.

The interchange at the 121 Tollway and the Dallas North Tollway is referred to as Segment 5 of the SH 121 Project. The anticipated completion date for Segment 5 is January 2012.
