President George Bush Turnpike Traffic Improvements at U.S. 75
The North Texas Tollway Authority is working in cooperation with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), and the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) to address recurring traffic congestion along U.S. 75 north of the President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT). The limits of the project stretch from the interchange to 15th Street.
The project consists of widening the direct connectors to two lanes and improving the merge/weave condition at the 15th Street exit ramp. Other improvements are either planned or under construction by other agencies. The NTTA is coordinating additional improvements with those agencies.
In January 2006, the Regional Transportation Council approved $4.15 million in federal funds for the project, and the NTTA Board approved $2.5 million in funds to keep the project moving forward. TxDOT has assumed the lead in the design and construction and currently has design underway. Design is expected to be completed by 2010, with construction to follow.
