What is ETC?
Electronic toll collection (ETC)
refers to technology that collects toll payments electronically.
All-electronic toll collection (all-ETC) refers to a toll system or toll road that has no cash toll booths. Technology on all-ETC roads matches vehicles with
TollTag accounts
or sends a
ZipCash
bill to the registered owner of the vehicle for the trip.
All-ETC roads are convenient for drivers, who no longer have to slow down to pay or look for change. A driver can choose to pay in advance and receive a lower rate by using a TollTag or pay after a trip, via a ZipCash account, which will generate a mailed invoice after several transactions.
