Bob Day Dallas County Appointee
Dr. Bob Day, a private practice optometrist, is the owner and principal doctor at Broadway Eye Center in Garland. He has practiced in Garland since 1975, after earning his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees from the University of Houston.
In August 2007, the Dallas County Commissioner’s Court approved the appointment of Dr. Day to the North Texas Tollway Authority Board of Directors, effective September 1, 2007, for a two-year term. In September of 2009, Dr. Day was appointed to his second two-year term by the Dallas County Commissioner's Court.
Dr. Day’s government involvement has included five years as the Mayor of Garland, four years as District 5 Representative for the board of the North Texas Commission, serving as a member of the Regional Transportation Council, executive board of the North Central Texas Council of Governments and advisory committee of Vision North Texas.
Other civic involvement included service on the board of the Garland Chamber of Commerce, the Garland Landmark Society and New Beginning Center. He served as President of the Garland Jaycees, as Administrative Vice-President of the Texas Jaycees, as Chairman of Garland Salvation Army and as Chairman of the Gray Owl District of the Boy Scouts of America.
His professional involvement included service as President of the Texas Optometric Association and State Professional Representative to the Vision Service Program.
